David Peters, LAc

David Peters is nationally licensed and board certified in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He is a Licensed Acupuncturist in North Carolina where he is also a licensed Massage Therapist and has specialized in Energy Meridian Therapy including: AnMo, TuiNa, Shiatsu, and Jin Shin Do acupressure. David also loves to teach Ba Duan Jin (8 Pieces of Brocade) Qigong and Yang Style TaiQi in his spare time.

David’s specialty is the treatment of infertility for both men and women and he is a practitioner within the Fertility Wellness Program at Triangle Acupuncture Clinic. He is also skilled at working with digestive concerns and chronic pain syndromes. David was appointed to the position of Vice Chairman of the North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Board earlier this year. He has enjoyed his move to central North Carolina from West Palm Beach, FL with his wife and son and feels right at home.

David began his quest in the medical realm while earning a pre-medicine Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Florida Atlantic University. He then became interested in studying Traditional Medicine rather than focusing on the Western model. David began studying American and European herbal remedies. Through his exploration and his move to the Chicago area, he discovered the Taoist Arts of Longevity. These arts include all of the five branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Acupuncture, Massage, Diet (including Herbs), Meditation (Mental Discipline), and exercises (Tai Qi and Qigong). All of these branches are rooted in the philosophy of creating balance and harmony in your life to prevent disease and promote health of the body, mind, and spirit. David began learning the discipline of Jin Shin Do acupressure massage at Wellness Institute of Massage Therapy in the Chicago area. He also began his two year tutelage in Ba Duan Jin ( Eight Pieces of Brocade) Qigong from his endearing mentor Rene Ryan. Please join David Wednesday at 6:30 in the Cary office to experience a Qigong class for yourself.

After spending three years in Chicago, David decided to move back to the South Florida area to begin a massage therapy practice while expanding his knowledge in these arts. David started working at a busy Physical Therapy practice where he utilized Massage techniques, Ultrasound , E-stim, exercises, stretches ,etc. While working, he attended Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine (ATOM) where he earned a Bachelor of Health Science and a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

While earning his Masters Degree, David had the pleasure of learning from the faculty Dean of ATOM, Dr. Fu Di, M.D.. Dr. Fu Di is also on staff at the University of Miami Medical School and is co-author of San Zhen Therapy (Three Needle Technique). While all of David’s instructors were superb, Dr. Fu Di has been a guiding mentor and friend. Another asset to David’s repertoire was cultivating his Yang Style TaiQi practice with Professor Hsinpo Chen while studying at ATOM.

David would also like to mention the personal influence of ATOM’s president, Johanna Chu Yen, M.D. and Peilan Yao. Johanna and Peilan were Gynecologists in China where they would use Western and Eastern protocols for their patients. Dr. Yen and Dr. Yao taught David most of what he uses today in his treatment of patients for Women’s issues and Fertility. It was through their guidance and teachings, during his three year internship, which made David the clinical practitioner he is today. Conceiving a child is one the most remarkable events that humans can achieve and being a helpful part of that process is why David has chosen to specialize in this field. It is truly a blessed gift when parents can create a mixture of their own DNA and create offspring. It is David’s relentless pursuit of knowledge and passion for aiding others struggling to receive this gift that drives his success. David would be happy to discuss treatment options Traditional Chinese Medicine can offer to support your goals in this sometimes complicated process.
