April Product of the Month: Herbs for Allergies

By Tory Wegner, LAc, DiplOM

It’s finally spring here in North Carolina and I’ve already had many patients with itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, congestion, and headaches.  The good news is Acupuncture and herbal medicine are very effective for treating allergies.  The reason that these modalities are so effective is because they focus on the root cause of allergies (activated immune system) as well as the symptoms (sneezing, congestion, etc.)  At Triangle Acupuncture Clinic we have several products that address allergies.

One great product this time of year for treating allergies is called Xanthium Relieve Surface.  It’s a combination of two classic Chinese herbal formulas: Yu Ping Feng San is a formula that helps boost the immune system or what we call the “wei qi” in Chinese medicine and Bi Yan Pian addresses symptoms like nasal congestion and itchy eyes.  Xanthium Relieve Surface is great at treating allergic rhinitis, sinus congestion, and sinus headaches.

Another effective product is called Nasal Tabs 2.  This formula treats acute and chronic sinus congestion with thick yellow mucus, sinusitis, rhinitis, hay fever, earache, and sinus headache.  This product contains Chinese herbs that open the nasal passages to reduce congestion and pain, reduce stagnant phlegm, and have antibacterial and fever reducing effects.  It also contains two essential oils (eucalyptus and thyme), which have antifungal and antibacterial properties.  Nasal tabs 2 can be used on its own or combined with Xanthium Relieve Surface.  Ask your practitioner which one is right for you.

In April Xanthium Relieve Surface and Nasal Tabs 2 are both 10% off
