Acupuncture Advocates and Oriental Medicine Day

Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day (AOM Day) is observed annually on October 24. It is part of an effort designed to increase public awareness of the progress, promise, and benefits of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. An estimated 36% of U.S. adults use some form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), according to a survey by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, a component of the National Institutes of Health. This month, in honor of AOM Day, consider making your voice heard by the NC legislature on the importance of Acupuncture in our state.

The Acupuncturists of NC started a PAC (Political Action Committee) to gain the right to access Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in a variety of settings that will be performed only by the most educated and qualified health care professionals. Acupuncture Advocates needs your help to elect legislators to the NC general assembly that will support acupuncture and Oriental medicine. Next year is a big legislative year as the PAC tries to get acupuncture included as an Essential Health Benefit for the NC insurance exchanges, to create insurance parity for acupuncture, and limit physical therapists in their advance of dry needling.  Acupuncture's biggest problem is that few legislators know who we are.  There is one month until early voting in NC.  And there are 5 close races in Orange and Wake counties where your contribution can make a difference.

We ask that all of you who enjoy and benefit from acupuncture please go to acupunctureadvocates.com and donate the equivalent of one acupuncture treatment to support this cause and all those we help every day. Thank you!
