Welcome Richard!
Starting out the New Year at TAC, we have some exciting news--help us welcome our new acupuncturist, Richard Oberg! Richard comes to us from Wisconsin and has a wealth of experience treating pain, women's health, and infertility, among many other general health concerns. His warm and peaceful nature, coupled with his years of experience in Eastern medicine, will be a wonderful addition to our Raleigh clinic.
Richard is an experienced Acupuncturist, Herbalist, and lecturer. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Masters of Science degree in Eastern Medicine. He studied, in depth, Eight Principle TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and 5 Elements Acupuncture. Richard went on to become proficient in multiple traditions of Japanese Acupuncture, Auyervedic Acupuncture (Marma Puncture), Korean Acupuncture, Shiatsu, and Chi Ni Tsang. He maintains a state license in both North Carolina and Wisconsin and specializes in the treatment of chronic pain, sports medicine, women's health, infertility, and pregnancy care. Richard also has extensive experience treating migraines, autoimmune diseases, neuropathy, anxiety, depression, allergies, as well as general health and well being.
Richard first experienced Acupuncture while he was a medical student following a more traditional path of medicine. During that time his wife started having health concerns that were unresolved with conventional care. Searching for alternative options, they were led to Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine. Richard's wife responded quickly and became symptom free. He immediately decided to enroll at the Desert Institute of Healing Arts in Tucson, Arizona to study Eastern Medical Theory. Richard went on to open a successful clinic in Tucson Arizona where he practiced Shiatsu, Chi Ni Tsang, and volunteered as a therapist for the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation.
Richard’s driving passion and thirst for knowledge led him to Wisconsin, where he graduated from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. For the last decade, Richard shared his passion as he taught Eastern Medical Theory, lectured on the benefits of Acupuncture and Eastern Medicine, and practiced at one of the nation's top ranking Integrative Medicine clinics.
Richard has always felt strongly about helping patients live to their full potential, to achieve their goals, and enrich their lives. He loves a challenge and is eager to step in and make progress where other treatments have failed. This drive has led him to study multiple acupuncture styles under several Master Acupuncturists. He has developed a diverse skill set that allows him to treat many difficult conditions, allowing his patients to take control of their health and give them the freedom to enjoy their lives.
Richard will begin working in our Raleigh clinic January 4th. Welcome, Richard!
