What Does the Year of the Fire Horse Have In Store for our Health?

The horse symbolizes momentum and a commitment to forward motion.  Combined with the Fire element, this energy will ignite your passions.  Think of it as the opposite of waiting quietly on the sidelines.  It is choosing to begin something that has been held back, or starting something before everything seems lined up and perfect.  It is your permission to take action, and to stop postponing.  You are ready.  Feel your momentum build this year and go for it!

We can also look at the way the seasons, weather, and Earth's energy cycles affect the body.  This is called Wu Yun Liu Qi and you can think of it as an ancient way of noticing trends: when certain climate patterns dominate, certain health issues tend to show up more often.

Here's what to expect in our Fire Horse year:

Early 2026: Heat Rising

The first half of the year may lean toward heat-related patterns — things like:

  • Feeling more agitated or restless

  • Inflammation

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Feeling overheated easily

To balance this, think cooling and hydrating. Foods like pears, apples, cucumbers, leafy greens, tofu, and simple soups can help support fluids and gently calm excess heat. Lightly cooked meals are generally easier on the system than heavy, fried, or very spicy foods.

Later 2026: Dryness Sets In

The second half of the year may shift toward dryness — especially affecting the lungs and skin. This could show up as:

  • Dry cough

  • Dry skin

  • Feeling “parched” or depleted

This is when warming, nourishing foods shine: sesame seeds, honey, eggs, yams, root vegetables, and slow-cooked soups or stews. These help maintain moisture and support the body as the air becomes drier.

While this system doesn’t predict individual health outcomes, it offers a helpful reminder: our bodies respond to the environment around us.  By adjusting small things — like the foods we eat and how we care for ourselves seasonally — we can stay more balanced throughout the year.

Happy 2026!  Let's make it a great year of the Fire Horse!
